How can I reach the doctor after hours for urgent concerns?

A doctor is ALWAYS on call for you. After hours if you call the office at 408-296-9800 you will be given a pager number to reach the doctor on call. We generally return all pages within 5 minutes. If you do not hear back within 15 minutes, please page again. Occasional network outages or improper keying leaves us unable to call you back.

Can I see you the same day for sick visits? Are you open on weekends?

Yes. We can usually see patients the same day for sick or urgent requests. The benefit of having 2 physicians in the office allows us the flexibility to schedule more patients as necessary. On Saturdays we are open from 9 AM - 12 PM for sick appointments.

What paperwork do I need to bring to our first appointment ?

Please bring any papers related to labwork, X-rays, medications, and vaccine records to your visit.

Dr. Shen is Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Internal Medicine. We see all children and adult patients.

What kind of conditions do you treat?

We treat the full spectrum of primary internal medicine (adult) and pediatric (child) conditions and diseases. This is a wde array of conditions including high blood pressure, asthma, cough, high cholesterol, eczema, allergies, skin conditions, infections, hepatitis, heartburn, and the whole spectrum of primary care.

In addition we do see patients for routine checkups.

Do you see patients for urgent care, asthma, and stitches?

Our office is equipped to handle the full spectrum of urgent care needs. We will perform suturing (stitches) in the office as well in appropriate cases. For asthma we do have respiratory therapy available as well as medications.

Do you offer cancer screening?

We believe in well adult care as well as well child care. With this philosophy we offer standard screening care (or referral) for conditions including breast cancer, colon cancer, prostate cancer, and cervical cancer.

Do you offer lab services?

Our office provides in office testing for a range of conditions including urine testing (for pregnancy or infection), EKG, strep throat screens,and blood draws. We are also very close to a Stanford Lab Draw Station for more extensive testing.

What if I need a referral to a specialist?

We have a close network of physician specialists in gastroenterology, cardiology, neurology, opthalmology, dermatology and more. Our specialists are affiliated with local hospitals including Stanford University, O'Connor Hospital, and San Jose Regional Medical Center.
